The Elmwood Park administration is aware of the increased federal immigration activity in Cook County. As always, the Elmwood Park Police Department is in contact with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and neighboring law enforcement agencies to ensure cooperation and enforcement of local and state laws. Elmwood Park Police do not enforce federal immigration laws, nor do they assist federal agents in the enforcement of immigration laws. Elmwood Park police adhere to all federal, state and local laws including the Illinois TRUST Act, which governs how local law enforcement agencies may act in relation to federal immigration actions. Per the Illinois TRUST Act, our officers are prohibited from assisting federal agents in the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
